Main window for views
The Main window for views (see Overview of the graphical user interface) is the central workspace of the Lobster Data Platform. Depending on the window partition selected in the View menu, it contains one or more view slots that can be assigned different views.
The View menu, which can be accessed at any time in the top bar, contains other useful functions for controlling the main window (user-specific default configuration, switching to full-screen mode).
Full screen mode temporarily hides the Top bar and the Main menu so that the Main window for views fully utilises the surrounding browser window.
To assign content to view slots in the Main window for views, menu items can be opened in the Main menu or Favourites or Open views can be brought to the foreground or assigned to a new view slot using drag & drop.
Views that are already open can also contain functionalities that can be used to open further views and assign them to an available view slot.

For use on a wide screen format, a vertical window split has been set for the Main window for views (see View menu). Two view slots appear next to each other.
In the image, the left view slot is occupied by an overview for Enumerations.
Double-click on one of the enumerations (Company type) selected in the list using the filter. The view for editing the company types then appears automatically in the right-hand view slot.
Double-clicking on the second enumeration on the left (Company meta type) while holding down the Ctrl+ key opens the view for editing in the right-hand view slot as well:

In the Open views section of the Top bar, three dots appear below the icon for Enumerations, which all three Open views use. The two green dots below refer to the two visible views, the grey dot represents the invisible (but open!) view for the Company type that was still displayed in the screenshot above. Clicking on the icon in the Open views section brings the previously invisible Company type view back to the foreground. It then reappears in the right-hand view slot (as in the screenshot above). |
Alternatively, you could also move the displayed Company meta type view to the left view slot using drag & drop. The views for editing Company meta type and Company type then appear next to each other and the view for Enumerations is no longer visible (but still open):
