Rule types – Abstract

Purpose: Is considered 'passed' if the association criterion selected as a Sub criterion is considered 'passed' for the current data context.

A Sub criterion rule evaluates a certain association criterion in a given data context and returns the result of the specified validation (true/false).

By this method, Association criteria can be referenced as logical 'building blocks' wherever rules can be configured:

NOTE◄ If required, a reference object that differs from the current context can be assigned to a Sub criterion rule via the With rule (see the example in the documentation for the With rule).

Configuration

When configuring a Sub criterion rule, the dropdown of a searchable Combobox element features all Association criteria for which the session has read access.

When an association criterion has been selected, its configuration is visualized within the rule element. The following restrictions apply:

  • Contained elements can be expanded and collapsed but not updated.

  • Descriptions for elements appear on a 'mouseover', but cannot be edited.

  • Context menu functions (Cut, Copy, Test, etc.) are not supported for individual elements.

►NOTE◄ In contrast to the configuration, the evaluation of a Sub criterion rule does not depend on read access for the underlying association criterion. From a session with sufficient privileges, a user may define an association criterion for a company, that addresses an association criterion, for which that company has no direct access at all. Where a company authorization for permission 'Association criteria/Read' would apply for all Association criteria owned by a company, this approach allows the individual 'sharing' of selected Association criteria.

  • This Sub criterion rule addresses an association criterion defining a conjunction between a Role rule and a Company rule.

  • Functionally, this criterion validates if an 'Administrator' is used in the context of a company account belonging to the hierarchy of 'Xflow AG'.
