Common business object type
The 'Common business object type' dynamic enumeration defines which types of common business objects (see Common business object) are available in the system.
The New (1) button adds new types of common business objects. The Remove (2) button deletes existing types.
►WARNING◄ Existing common object types should only be removed if they are no longer referred to in the system.
A new common business object type must be identified by an internal Name (3), applicable for the business object itself as well as derived structures (e.g. Views and Forms), while the Localized name may be defined optionally via Localization or Company specific localization. Short of localization the write-protected field will only show the internal name. The optional Description text is only visible within the view.
►NOTE◄ The internal name should not be changed, once other objects refer to the common business object type. It also serves as a reference key when business objects are imported.
The Menu entry (4) field specifies the position in the menu bar where the common business object name will appear, proper permissions provided. The position can be assigned by entering a name directly or selecting an existing item after clicking the symbol to the right of the entry field (also see following screenshot). In the example above, a new item 'Maintenance' for the menu's root level is specified. Once this item is localized via Localization or Company specific localization by the resource name 'menu|Maintenance' in resource bundle 'custom', the specific localization is indicated below the field.
This screenshot shows the menu item 'Maintenance' and the menu item browser filtered to list all items automatically added on behalf of the new common business object:
The 'Administration' branch features a menu item 'Forms Maintenance routing Details' for editing Input forms for the common business object.
The new menu item 'Maintenance' contains the menu item 'Maintenance routing' for the common business object itself with two child-items for the default overview and details view, again, subject to localization via Localization or Company specific localization.
The Icon URI (5) field can be used to link a specific symbol the common business object type, to appear in the menu bar as well as the title bar of respective views. The symbol can be assigned via button 'Select' (using the 'Asset manager') or by entering a URL that can be accessed form the Lobster Data Platform / Orchestration server. If required, a suitable image file can also be uploaded by Dateimanager.
The Details Icon URI (6) field can be used to dedicate a specific icon for details views. In the example above the symbol (fa://fa-wrench) defined for Icon URI (5) is combined with another icon (fa://fa-pencil-square-o). See Working with image resources (Icons) for more details. If no dedicated icon for details is assigned, the settings for Icon URI (5) apply for a details views.
