Working in the 'Urban' layout
Basic surface structure
Menu bar 1 – 8
(1) Shows the logged in user with name, role, company and image. A click on the user section opens a context menu, which offers further possibilities, such as changing the locale or logging off.
(2) Logs the user out. If users have several roles or companies at their disposal, they can switch to them directly here (quick change of session).
(3) Allows the content area to be divided into several window slots. For example, two overviews can also be displayed opposite each other or details can be shown in a separate slot.
(4) Opens the application menu (see Menu).
(5) Displays a search field. Menu items can be searched for here.
(6) A list of quicklinks/favorites. To add views to favorites, it is possible to either right-click on an open view or drag and drop it into the list. This is also possible with menu items.
A quicklink can also be removed by right-clicking on it (context menu) or by dragging and dropping it.
(7) Opens views that are not included in the quicklinks (6). These are grouped by icon and can therefore also contain several views.
(8) Shows all open views in a single overview. These can be identified both by their title and by their preview image. Clicking on an entry brings the view to the foreground accordingly.
Currently active view A – B
(A) Closes the displayed view, calls a help page, or collapses the ribbon menu of the view.
(B) The ribbon menu of the currently loaded view. Various functions are available here, which are divided into subcategories. In the bar at the top the main category of the ribbon can also be selected (e.g. Export).
Content area division (3)
Allows splitting the content area into multiple slots to work in parallel in different dialogs or to view details about a record directly.
The current split including its loaded view can be saved via the save icon (diskette) to restore it at the next login.
Such a configuration can be deleted again with the trash can icon.
Clicking 'X' or selecting a splitting option closes the selection bar again.
Tip: Open views or quicklinks can be dragged and dropped directly into a slot to display them there.
Example of a horizontal division:
Taskbar – Quicklinks and open views (6, 7, 8)
The taskbar consists of fixed entries (quicklinks/favorites) and temporary entries. Fixed entries are already present directly after logging in, even if its view has not yet been opened.
Temporary entries, on the other hand, are open views that are not part of the fixed entries.
To make a temporary entry a fixed entry, you can either drag and drop it into the fixed entries (or use the '+' field) or right-click on the entry.
If the mouse cursor remains on the icon of an open view, the title and a preview of the view are also displayed.
Clicking on the preview or the title brings the view to the foreground. The 'X' button closes the view accordingly.
Symbols
Views that are already open are represented by a small dot below the icon (X). If the view is currently in the foreground (active), this point is highlighted by a different color and size.
If configured, the number of entries contained in an overview is displayed in a colored bubble (Y) above the icon.
The rightmost button (Z) shows an overview of all open views. Both the icon, the name and the preview of the opened views are listed.
Views that are currently displayed in the foreground (active) are additionally marked with a colored dot (in the example above it is the 'All' view).
Clicking the 'X' button closes the corresponding view.
Right-clicking on a view additionally opens a context menu that offers further options (e.g. 'Close all' or 'Add to quicklinks').
Grouping of views
Open views that are not part of the quicklinks are grouped by their icon to avoid redundant information. If more than one view has been grouped in an entry, this is displayed with several dots (maximum 4). By hovering over them with the mouse cursor, the grouped views can be displayed.
Example
Shipment details and overview have the same icon in this configuration, so they are grouped under one taskbar entry.
Tip: The context menu (right-click) can also be used to close all views in the group at once.
Exceptions
Certain grouping exceptions could be interpreted as incorrect behaviour, but are a logical consequence due to defined rules.
Example
The symbol for the dynamic enumerations was not grouped, although it occurs twice.
The 'Dynamic enumerations' view has been set in the quicklinks (as a fixed entry). This represents exactly this view.
The view 'Print document kind' however, is a view that is not even accessible via the menu and can therefore not be combined under a quick link.
This results in the following basic rule: Quicklink entries are grouped by their menu path/view name, whereas temporary entries are grouped by their icon.
Menu
By default, the application menu opens as soon as the user clicks on the menu icon (top left 1), or when a search is performed directly (magnifying glass icon or keyboard shortcut CTRL/CMD + SHIFT + F) 2.
In the case of a search, only a reduced (hovering) version of the menu is displayed so that the user can work efficiently.
A menu node that can be opened as a view offers further options via a context menu (3). This can be opened either by right-clicking or by clicking on the three dots (...).
If the view is already open, the 'Open as a new view' item is offered, which opens the view a second time in addition to the one already open (see Grouping of views).
Likewise, views can be added or removed from the quicklinks via the context menu.
With Drag&Drop, menu items can also be dragged directly into the quicklinks or a content slot. The menu hides temporarily until the drag&drop action is completed.
Pin menu
In addition to the dynamic menu, the user is also offered the option of pinning the menu so that it is permanently available. For this purpose, the pin symbol (4 above) can be clicked.
If the menu symbol is clicked, the enlarged version of the menu will be displayed temporarily.
Clicking on the pin icon again, releases the menu and sets it back to dynamic mode. This user decision is saved and will be reloaded the next time the client is loaded.
Image: Client with pinned menu. The view will be fully visible and the menu will stick to the side.
Widgets
In the expanded main menu, the user has the option of attaching small program tiles nl. (so-called 'widgets'). These can be added (2) as well as removed again (4).
Via Drag&Drop or the options menu (4), the position of a widget can be freely selected on a predefined grid (3). By holding down the SHIFT key, other widgets that are 'in the way' can be 'moved aside'.
Depending on the type of widget, the size can also be changed (options menu (4)).
►NOTE◄ Which widgets are available here depends on the rights and rules of the logged in user.
