History (Business objects)
See also: History (Configurations)
The ribbons of overviews and the detail views for standard business objects (Common business object, Orders, Manifests, Shipments) feature a History section.
For objects that have already been created (saved at least once), the List button is enabled, which opens a modal view for the history of the business object.
►NOTE◄ In order to access the change history, the permission 'History' per business object is required for the role used.
View 'History'
The following screenshot shows an example for the change history of a shipment:
The 'History' view contains two vertically arranged sections:
The lower section shows the history list, with a chronological record of all versions of the business object created so far by saving changes including current state ('Now'). Common functionality for data grids, such as filtering, sorting, pagination, exports and column arrangement are applicable for this list.
The upper section shows a details view based on the data of a certain version from the list, using the layout from the current version of the applicable input form.
Show details per version
The details view always shows data for the latest version selected in the history list. Without a selection the details view shows no data.
If a single version is selected in the history list, this selection can be 'shifted' e.g. by cursor keys (up/down), to trace the development of details step by step in a chronological sequence.
Compare details between versions
If multiple versions are selected in the list, the details view reflects the latest selected version and compares its data against the oldest selected version.
Elements with changes are highlighted by green shading and for some element types the change in data is commented in details via a tool tip (see image).
However, this comparison is intended for simple content, like values of text fields or selections in a combobox. Complex content, e.g. the line items of shipments, cannot be cross-checked in this way, even though changes can be examined visually via the details view.
Exporting a version as XML
If supported by the object type, the XML variant of an object can be exported. The button in the ribbon is available for this purpose and becomes active when a single element is selected in the list.
Clicking on the button opens a new tab in which the XML representation is downloaded and displayed.
