License warnings - Tutorial
Last Update: 10.01.2024 |
What should I do if the emergency license is active?
Don't panic! If a license warning is received by e-mail, no license can be retrieved at the time of the check and the system switches to the “Emergency License”. In principle, this behaves like a normal license, but has a shorter expiration date of 14 days in total.
You can find out when the emergency license expires from the following sentence in the email:
The system will stop working Thu Nov 02 00:00:00 CET 2023.
In the email you will also find a link to our error page, which will inform you whether the connection to the Lobster license server was or is interrupted.

Background of the emergency license
The system checks every 15 minutes whether a valid license is available. If the license cannot be queried and therefore cannot be checked or if the expiration date has passed, the system switches to the emergency license:
Warning via email to the contact person on file.
Reduction of the emergency ticks (time units) with an initial value = 24*4*14 = 1344 (1 tick = 15 min).
Once the license has been successfully checked, the emergency license is automatically exited. The emergency ticks are fully recharged after a certain period of time without failed license checks.
However, if the license cannot be checked successfully and the available emergency ticks have been used up, the system switches itself off!
Possible causes for a license warning
On the part of Lobster
If the Lobster license server is temporarily unavailable, the licenses cannot be retrieved. In this case, the system goes into emergency license mode.
You can view current problems on the error page: https://www.lobster-world.com/data-info/system.html
On the part of the customer
To check exactly which license you are using, open the Admin Console and click on License info.
The systems on which the Integration Server is running must be able to access the Lobster license server.
Please check the following points in the event of a license warning:
How many license warning emails have you already received or since when?
Was anything changed on the server at the time you received the first license warning?
Did the Internet connection fail or was there a network problem at that time?
Has the Integration Server been restarted?
Is the session to the Lobster license server busy?
If your system was not shut down properly, the old session is blocking a new request. Restart your system with the emergency license. The session is normally released after a maximum of 15 minutes.
If a second system is accessing the session, check whether the same installation ID is being used for different systems.
Is there a firewall and/or has it been changed?
Are you using a proxy? - Check the proxy settings of your JVM.
Is port 443 enabled for outgoing access to the Lobster license server?
Support via Lobster
If you contact our support, please check the above questions in advance. We also need the following information:
The file ./logs/wrapper.log (Windows) or ./hub.txt (Linux).

Who receives a licence warning email?
The stored email address was entered during installation. You can find this in the Admin Console under License info.
It is useful to store a company-wide distribution email address so that you as the contact person are informed immediately in the event of a license failure and can act if necessary. Please make sure that this email address can also be read by at least one employee in your company in the event of illness or holiday.
