Partner (MFT server)

Here you will find an overview of all partners of the MFT server. You can use the context menu to create new partners and edit and delete existing ones. The counterpart (on MFT clients) is a client. See section MFT as introduction.

Creating partners

Partners are always initially created on the MFT server. These partners are used to send or receive data to or from the MFT server. Partners cannot exchange data directly between themselves. All communication always goes via the MFT server.

Settings

(1) Type: Always use Lobster MFT, which is the normal MFT client. Note: In rare cases, files can also be sent to the MFT server via FTP (e.g. for external partners who do not have access to the company network), but this is not discussed here and will be clarified with you by our support team during installation after the license has been purchased. In normal cases this is not necessary.

(2) Partner: The name of the partner. Note: If possible, always use an equal number of characters for all your names, e.g. CHANNEL001, CHANNEL002, etc. This makes it easier to extract these names from files later on in other places (especially in fixed-length files). Note: The name of the partner must be unique.

(3) IP/Host: The IP/URL of the computer on which the MFT client is installed Note: You can create multiple partners for each host (MFT client). In the overview above (first screenshot) you can see where a partner comes from in the Host column.

(4) Password: The password for the partner. Note: You create this password as you wish and then pass it on to the administrator of the MFT client so that he can use it when setting up a client (as a counterpart to this partner).

(5) Active: Only active partners can send and receive data! The corresponding client on the MFT client must also be active!

(6) Ping: This button starts a connection test. This test only checks the connection to the MFT client itself. A successful test does not necessarily mean that the connection between partner and client is established (for which both have to be active)! Note: You can ignore button Test FTP-Upload, see also note in (1).

(7) Restart: The send thread is rebuilt. Important note: This can help if the client matching this partner does not receive any files, but can send files and a connection is basically established, see point (6).
