Creating queue manager
The MQ Explorer differentiates between local and remote queue managers.
Local queue managers manage the queues on the local WebSphere MQ server. Remote queue managers refer to WebSphere MQ servers accessible on the network.
The administration of remote queues on the WebSphere MQ server has to be explicitly allowed in the rights administration.
Create local queue manager
To create a local queue manager, you only have to specify the name and a free port for the manager.
All other settings can be adjusted as required.
Creating remote queue manager
To allow the administration of the queue as a remote queue, the following security rules must be removed from the queue manager's channel authentication on the server.
In order for the server to accept remote connections, remote management must be set up in the queue manager.
If the queues are administered only locally, the above-mentioned steps can be omitted.
If a remote queue manager is installed on the client, the IP address and the port of the remote queue manager must be specified. Also, the name of the queue manager must match the name of the queue manager on the server, otherwise it will not be found.
After that, the appropriate server IP and the manager port must be specified.
In the case of connection problems, the log files of the queue manager (see troubleshooting) provide additional information.
