Working with Templates

You can use templates in Lobster_data in the following places. The specific procedure will be explained in the corresponding GUI settings.

Templates for profiles	Profile templates can be used when creating new profiles to inherit certain basic settings of a profile. See section Context Menu Groups.
Templates for source and destination structures	Manually creating a source or destination structure is a very time-consuming process. Lobster_data offers a multitude of possibilities for the automated creation of structures. A complete source or destination structure can be created from an external example file, template or schema file. See subarea Import structure in area General and the Source Structure Menu (→ Create structure from file analysis) or the Destination Structure Menu (→ Create structure → from file analysis). For self-created partial templates for structures, see section Destination Structure Menu (→ Manage snippets). For standard formats (e.g. EDIFACT, SAP IDoc, X12) there are already hundreds of 'internal' templates available in Lobster_data. See sections Source Structure Menu, Destination Structure Menu and Loading Templates. You can automatically create structures for connected databases (see sections Importing Structure via Database Nodes and DB (Input Agent Cron)), SAP systems and web services.
Templates to format values in source and destination structure fields	You can specify the format in which numbers are displayed (thousands separator, decimal places, etc.), for example. See sections Attributes for Fields (source structure) and Attributes for Fields (destination structure).
Templates for Integration Units	See sections ODTCreatorUnit, TemplateParserUnit, and XMLTemplateParserUnit, for example.
